Gary Noland

Hello, my name is Gary Noland. I am a singer / songwriter and I live in North Florida. I have been playing guitar for over 25 years. As I learned to play the guitar writing songs was as natural as breathing.

I was born in California and raised in the Bay Area. I lived there until 2004 when I decided among other things that there had to be more to life than working and commuting. It was then I started seeing RV’s driving down the highway thinking to myself I’d like to do that. 3 months later my wife and our 6 month old daughter found our selves in a RV driving down the road. It was a trip of a lifetime. We traveled to nearly 40 states and went to Canada twice once in British Columbia and once up in Niagara Falls. The trip helped us reflect and think of what is important in life. After 10 months on the road we decided that we wanted and needed a slower paced life. So we decided to settle in a small town in North Florida.

I have always been content with playing my music for friends and family. But while I was deciding what was important in life I found I was ignoring a very big part of who I am. I decided that I was going to explore my ability as a songwriter. I have found myself performing my music which I never thought I’d do. I have found that performing is a very difficult thing to do. It is much more than just playing your music. While creating songs comes naturally the performance part has been hard work. Over the last year I have learned a lot but have a long way to go.

Music seems to run deep in our family. I have a brother and sister who also are singer / songwriters they are very talented though their styles are different than mine. I also have a brother who is an awesome drummer especially with Latin Afro/Cuban percussion instruments. My Mother was an accomplished singer and my Dad was a guitarist and singer / songwriter. So it seems that music is in our genes.

The songs I write generally reflect the things going on around me. Either to me or to those I know. I am a spiritual man so writing in the religious realm is normal for me. But I also write about love and sorrow and everything in between.

Over the last few months I have been working on my first full length CD. Again while writing songs comes easy I have learned that there is a great deal of work in producing quality music. It has been quite an experience watching the songs I have written become polished pieces of music. I hope to have my CD available in the spring of 06. I also plan to have snippets of my music available to listen to in mp3 format very soon.
